Preliminary Layout

This is my preliminary layout for my magazine project. My title is "Family Travel", but there are a couple different titles I've been going back and forth with: "Best Family Travel Destinations", "Family Travel Destinations", "The Family Travel Magazine"... And I might want to change my selling line because it's not very interesting or capturing. 


Magazine 

Masthead: Family Travel  


Main Image: The main image will be a picture of Paris, with bright colors to give it a colorful happy feel. It will focus on the overall image of Paris and have our title at the top of the magazine with subheadings on the edges. 


Selling line: Places to go that your family will love! 


Typography/Font: The font of the title will be bold, and the font of the subheadings will be a color that matches the main image but smaller and more delicate. 


Feature Article Title/Content/images/s: The feature of the article will be about Paris and things to do there with your family sense it is the main image of the magazine. It will have pictures of different thing in Paris life the Eiffel tower and different restaurants to try. 


Content Page Styling/Article title Ideas: The content page styling will be bright, and family oriented with light font. The articles will have different headings such as, “travel tips”, “budgeting”, and “activities”, just some subheadings to make the magazine focus on our concept.

Peer Review

     After I presented my magazine, I got a few critiques about my project. For example, someone suggested I should change my writing in my feature article to horizontal writing instead of columns. However, in every magazine I looked at before I made mine, the writing was in columns, I felt that if I changed mine into horizontal writing, that my feature article would look more like an essay with pictures rather than a magazine article so I decided not to change it. Also, I was told to ad the month and year on my cover page, so I did that. The title of my magazine is "family travel" and I continued the title onto my table of contents as a sort of logo for my magazine. On my table of contents, people said the logo did not show up enough so I copy and pasted it over two more times on top of the logo to darken it so I would stand out more. Finally, someone also said I should have a border added to my feature article so I added that as well and I liked how it turned out. ...

Post-Production 2- Using InDesign

Using InDesign was such a great experience to learn how to make a real magazine.  InDesign had so many useful tools to make a professional magazine. For example, using the grid to make sure my text was aligned and neat was very helpful.   I had my fonts match my feature article and table of contents so the magazine would flow nicely.  I made myself a theme to go with through the colors I chose.  After I put my pictures in, I notice there was some bright red in most of them and I colored some important text with that same red (I color matched them) and put it on the text like my title, subheads, and a quote in my feature article.
